Word Recall
Study a short list. Then words come one at a time: did you see it, or is it new? Three rounds, rising load.
How to play
- Memorize the word list before the timer runs out
- Each test word: tap Seen it or New
- Half the test words are decoys
- 3 rounds: 6, 8, then 10 words
What it trains
Verbal. Recognizing a word you studied is easier than recalling it cold, but decoys expose shallow reading. Depth of processing decides what sticks: words you connect to meaning survive; words you only look at blur into the decoys. That effect was mapped by Craik and Lockhart in 1972 and it is why skimming feels like learning but does not test like it.

One honest tip
Link each study word to a quick image, however silly. Meaning is the hook decoys cannot fake.
